Transformation Package
There are many things to consider before starting to build your backyard pool, and landscaping design plans are important to thoroughly complete a pool project. To start, you’ll need a vision and plan for your backyard. Guilford Pools has worked with many clients that need professional guidance throughout this process, and our team of design experts can make your vision a reality. This article will give you a solid starting point for what to think about as you begin your pool journey.
Future-Proof Your New Pool for Long-term Enjoyment!
The number one thing we hear from our long-time customers is that they wish they had planned better! Years after the project is completed, clients often share with us that they wish they had included a larger pool deck space or added features such as a waterfall, a slide, or a pool heater at the time of pool construction.
It’s very important to understand that your new pool instinctively will become the central location for family cookouts, graduation and birthday parties and simply relaxing with friends and family. Planning for features such as a fire pit, grill station/outdoor kitchen area, shaded seating areas, Sun-shelves or Play-shelves for little ones and even pets, a pool heater, automatic cleaners, etc. will ensure maximum enjoyment of your new pool through the years as your family grows.

Peek into the Pool Construction Process
Many homeowners worry about how the pool construction process will affect their homes and their lives. To ease your mind, we’ve assembled a step-by-step outline to help you know what to expect. View the steps below, then contact us if you have any questions regarding swimming pool construction.
Excavation for a vinyl-lined pool is a job for an experienced backhoe operator. Normally the side excavation is approximately two feet beyond the finished pool perimeter to allow for assembly and a concrete footing to be installed.
The second step includes assembly of the steel panels and stairs, coping receptor, skimmer, and inlets as well as suction and return plumbing.
Most pool builders pour the concrete decking once all of step two is completed but in some cases and with certain water table situations, the liner will be installed before the decking is poured. The pool structure is strong enough to allow installation to proceed in either manner.
This is where an experienced expert makes all the difference!
Fill it with water and enjoy all of the health, fitness, and entertainment value of a spectacular poolscape in your backyard!
FAQ
We’ve assembled some common questions and answers below to help you know what to expect.
How long before we can swim?
We offer many solutions so you can enjoy your pool as soon as possible. Typical installations allow 30-45 days for proper construction depending on site conditions and the nature of the project. However, we can get you swimming even sooner. Just ask us how!
Do I have to deal with permitting and lining up contractors?
Guilford Pools will secure your building permit and set up inspections. We also can line up contractors for electrical, fencing, even landscaping as you need so your project will proceed as smoothly as possible. Sometimes homeowners use their own contractors, which is certainly fine with us. We want your project to be smooth and professional as possible.
How much deposit is required to get started?
We ask for a 15% deposit to order materials and secure your start date. Please be cautious if a pool contractor asks for large sums of money upfront before any work is scheduled.
Do you offer Financing?
Yes, we offer some great financing options to keep your pool affordable.
